We start with people. The rooms come after.
We believe the best design begins with understanding people. Beautiful spaces are simply the result.
Our Story
Bureau of Interior Design grew out of Dan Davis Design, a studio founded in 2008 with a simple belief: spaces should feel as good as they look. That idea hasn't changed. What's evolved is how clearly we can articulate why we do this work.
We're led by Jennifer Baross, whose background in architectural history, design education, and preservation brings a layer of narrative to every project. Michelle keeps the process running with precision and care. And while Dan spends a little more time in the garden these days, his spirit of craftsmanship is woven into everything we do.

We believe every voice in the room deserves to be heard — including the quieter one. When one partner has a strong vision and the other says 'whatever you think,' we don't accept that as the end of the conversation.
We believe craft shows in the things nobody notices. The specification that saved a client three months of frustration. The email that was clearer than it needed to be. The installation detail that nobody will ever photograph but everyone will feel.
We believe beauty is earned, not applied. When a project genuinely improves how someone lives or works, the beauty follows naturally. That's the only kind we're interested in.
